   docs/DESIGN.md §3 names three: Fraunces for display, Inter for text, IBM Plex
   Mono for data. All three are SIL OFL, so they travel with the project instead

     Fraunces   opsz  9 → 144   (default 9)
                wght  100 → 900 (default 900)
     Inter      wght  100 → 900 (default 400)
     Plex Mono  no axes: two static instances, 400 and 500

   Two consequences, and both are in site.css rather than here:

   - the declared font-weight range has to be the REAL range. It used to say
     300 900 for Fraunces and 300 700 for Inter; a browser asked for weight 100
     or 800 then clamped to the declared end and the whole scale collapsed onto
     two weights. The mockup uses 450, 550, 650 and 900, and it only gets them
     because the range below is right.

   - opsz is the axis that makes Fraunces look drawn rather than scaled. With
     font-optical-sizing at its default the browser sets opsz to the used font
     size in px, so a 12px eyebrow would get the 12pt drawing — high contrast,
     spindly serifs. site.css therefore pins 'opsz' 120 on the headings and
     'opsz' 20 on the brand name, which is the one place a display face is set
     at text size.

   Regenerate the subsets with pyftsubset from the upstream variable fonts; keep
   the file names, they are referenced here and nowhere else.
